near my baby. I keep a strict nursing journal documenting our feedings. We nursed constantly. My son was excellent at nursing and I felt like an old pro, too. He latched on perfectly moments after birth and never left my side in the hospital. At home, we nursed every two hours, about fifteen minutes each side, and he always seemed extremely satisfied. My son’s weight increased steadily and his pediatrician was pleased and impressed with both his appetite and his health. I THOUGHT we were off to a great start.
This time, however, my milk started to decrease after only TWO months. I couldn’t even believe it was happening. We weren’t using any formula. Chris and I nursed 10, 12 times a day. I pumped in-between, if you can believe I even had time for that! But somehow I found the time. However it was no good. My milk was leaving me again, and I’d never felt so helpless in my life. Countless phone calls and consultations with breastfeeding advocates, counselors, Doulas, trusted friends, etc. all led me to the same advice. After they realized/ saw in-person that Chris latched-on perfectly and was gaining weight at a healthy clip without any formula supplementation, yet still my milk supply was decreasing, they all
